Where it all started

Back in the mid 1970's Bob started the colts section at New Milton and I was very fortunate to be one of the early starters. Bob's infectious enthusiasm was very evident and he was always encouraging and never seemed to get affected by either good or bad results. In time he turned to umpiring and proved to be very adept at that and in particular had a lovely way of turning down my LBW shouts, usually with a smile. It was always a pleasure to bump into him either at Fernhill or the BCG and the cricket family will miss him. My sympathies to his family and we'll raise a glass to Bob once we get back together at the club bar.
